3 Reasons the Internet Is Making the World a Smarter Place

HomeProductivity3 Reasons the Internet Is Making the World a Smarter Place

The internet has made the world smaller, faster, and better informed. From the largest cities to the smallest towns, the internet has changed the way we learn, teach, and interact with others regardless of distance and borders. No matter what you’re trying to learn or discover, or what subject you’re trying to educate yourself on, you’ll find it on the internet.

It Brings the World Together

Through the internet, the experience, skills, and knowledge of one nation belong to all nations. Cultural knowledge, skills, and expertise are no longer limited to a few hundred or even a few thousand. The internet has created a gateway that spreads information and education all over the world. According to Cybercrime Magazine, over 3 billion people have access to the internet, and over 2 billion are a part of an online community and use social media. Through the internet, people can learn and share knowledge regardless of race, color, creed, gender, or cultural differences.

You Can Learn Anything

The internet is a knowledge and information guru. It passes knowledge, skills, and expertise from one person to another. There is no subject that the internet is not familiar with or has information about. You can learn anything over the internet from almost anywhere in the world. According to Guru, the internet has made it easier than ever to connect yourself to millions of experts in pretty much any subject. With a simple search, you can learn about anything from experts in their fields who want to teach you. Farmers in poor countries can learn about business or how to increase their crop production. Artisans can sell their crafts via the internet and learn how to create an online business. With e-learning, anyone can become a student, attend a lecture, take exams, and learn as easy as sitting in a classroom.

Self-Paced Learning

What makes the internet unparalleled when it comes to learning is the opportunity for students and others seeking information and knowledge to learn at their own pace. Another benefit of learning online is that, according to Thinkful, students retain information at a greater rate than traditional classrooms. You can take an online course as many times as necessary and at any hour of the day or night. E-learning is also more cost-effective than traditional classroom courses. If you’re on a serious budget, there are thousands of internet sites where you can learn how to do just about anything without costing you a dime.

The internet is taking humanity beyond intellectual classroom learning. It’s making people smarter and bringing us closer together. What once took hours to learn can now be learned in minutes. Information, knowledge, and education are no longer limited to a select group or class of people but to everyone with internet access.
